THE BEGINNINGS:
Amsphere was formed through the Management Buy Out (MBO) of Rebus Technologies' Applications Management & Knowledge Transition Management businesses in the UK and India. Until April 2002 this business was part of the Rebus Group. April 2002 saw the formation of Amsphere Limited through the MBO. All staff were transferred across through TUPE.
The Rebus Group itself has its roots in the 1960's when the insurance software business emerged from the Lloyd's broker CE Heath Plc and the HR Operations commenced as Peterborough Data Processing. Peterborough Software, as the latter became known, was acquired by CE Heath Plc during the 1980's.
In April 1996 the IT interests of CE Heath were de-merged and the Rebus Group was formed and listed separately on the London stock market. This move facilitated growth both organically and through acquisition:
- EPG Insurance Systems was acquired in December 1996. Now part of Rebus IS Limited.
- Moorepay Group Plc was acquired in January 2000 by Rebus Group and is now part of Rebus HR Limited.
- Rebus Technologies was formed to develop Applications Management & Knowledge Transition Management Services.
During the month of April 1999 the Rebus Group was de-listed and acquired by Suber Acquisitions Limited (a joint venture between Warburg Pincus and General Atlantic Partners).
After having been based at 120 Leman Street, London E1 8EU for over 10 years, Amsphere's new HQ since January 2006 is at Staple Hall, 87-90 Houndsditch, London, EC3A 7AD, near to Liverpool Street station.
