Business Process Management

Amsphere’s Business Process Consulting practice has decades of experience in a wide range of industries where we have performed a number of functions and roles in both IT and in business operations. This breadth and depth of experience and expertise is pivotal in our ability to elicit knowledge whilst offering alternative approaches, good industry practice and, where appropriate, best practice policies, processes and procedures.

Our business consultants provide support during times of business restructuring, integration or transformation. They reduce the risk of knowledge going missing as staff move from one entity to another or leave the organization completely. Amsphere’s KAAMS® suite of products and services mitigates against the loss of specific and explicit information through our proven knowledge acquisition techniques. Where the business challenge requires a change of approach (for example a consolidation of processes from across a range of business units around the world) our business consultants are able to add immense value in expediting the identification and introduction of new ways of working or streamlining existing services.

Business Process Management Consulting involves:

  • identifying requirements (the “to-be” model or state)
    assessing the current state
  • conducting gap analysis to identify the optimum path to the “to be” model
  • developing process flow documentation to assist staff with the job of writing or re-writing operational procedures to reflect the transformed business

We represent these outputs in KAAMS® or in any medium that supports the customer need.

Our consultants use a range of tools and techniques to elicit vital information, often starting with our own straw-man framework of requirements based on initial discussions with the client.  In workshop-style settings we aim to provoke thoughts and new ideas in areas close to the key subject matter which encourages the client to expand their thoughts in and around the subject. Our straw-man “could look” approach is based on prior knowledge, experience and insight thus the proximity of the starting position is never far from the desired outcome.

Detailed knowledge capture and “deep dive” modelling uses a mixture of traditional techniques (structured interviews, affinity diagrams for modelling, “best guess” planning) and Amsphere’s range of tools and methods in its KAAMS® repository.

The key outcome of our Business Process Consultancy is the interactive build-up of the desired business model with documented process descriptions, gaps identified and analysed, tracked issues/risks/assumptions and detailed descriptions of the current environment and the to-be state. Final deliverables can be used for development of new ways of working, selection of new IT systems and training/educating staff in those new ways.
A major feature of Amsphere’s Business Process Consultancy is the systematic and driven approach which arrives at the key points of principle quickly with the orderly development of detailed requirements in a suitably prioritised manner.

Our approach and method have delivered benefits to clients in the following situations:

Process Workflow –  identifying the key steps in a process so that the effort and decision-making is recorded for posterity. This is an essential knowledge leakage prevention strategy when delayering a business or function or outsourcing services/processes.

Training Opportunities -  using our capture techniques and playback tools, Amsphere can develop training material in 2-dimensional form (documents) and/or 3-dimensional form (video/audio) delivered on client intranet portals or hosted by Amsphere.

Business Integration -  we have been extremely successful in helping companies combine disparate business practices into single cohesive workforces through our to-be business modelling. This is particularly useful in post-merger integration situations

Efficiency Identification -  by working through business processes our consultants question and challenge practices and approaches, stripping out wasteful effort, eliminating old habits and instilling good practice, aligned to business need. We are always mindful of best practice where this is required or beneficial and balance “best” with “sufficient” in the pursuit of business objectives
